Recently I purchased ten photon II's of various colors. I had planned to give most out as gifts but decided to keep them for myself and buy some more for gifts. I live in Seattle WA on a 38 foot boat. Last night unfortunately I was screwing around with my blue and red photons clipped to each other's lanyard and they went overboard. My depth sounder says it is 8 feet and consider how long of a pole I was using and how far I had to bend over my boat to try to retrieve them it is at least eight feet. The good thing is that they were both on when they went over. After twenty minutes of me pushing them all over the bottom of the mucky lake I gave up on the hook and pole idea. They were still on and at full power which considering the mucky water and their depth I was surprised to see them at all. My last attempt was a big magnet on fishing line. Success! I pulled them up and they were still going at full power. I am planning on taking them apart to dry them completely and take out the dirt that was all packed in around the button. -Dave.......Seattle, WA
I flew home from a Thanksgiving outing on my least favorite airline. As we pulled up to the gate, the pilot announced some sort of electrical weirdness that made it impossible to get us out of the aircraft. After twenty minutes of attempted fixes, the captain cut the engine, plunging us into darkness. I reached for my Photon to provide a bit of light and calm until the emergency exit lighting came on and the door opened. I bought a red photon light for a friend who is into astronomy. He uses it to check his charts. The red light does not affect your night vision adaptation and you can still see faint objects in the telescope even after looking at a chart with the red light. -A.M. This past Halloween we taped (Band Aided, actually) a red Photon behind each of my sons ears. His ears turned BRIGHT red - really an amazing effect - and the pad on the Band Aid kept the light from shining backwards. Ever since my daughter was small, we've liked to turn the lights out at bedtime and make shadow puppets on the walls and ceiling with a flashlight beam. Until recently, we've either used a regular-sized flashlight or one of those small keychain lights. The regular-sized flashlight was very bulky--I was always afraid of dropping it on her. Though the keychain lights were more manageable, they never seemed to give off very much light. Both these problems have been solved with the Photon Micro-Lights! We now use the yellow and the red Photon lights to make really cool shadow puppets. -Joan H. I just received my turquoise Photon II today. I am amazed at the power of this thing! (I am not usually that easily impressed). It is, quite literally, laser-bright at close range (I work with lasers so I should know!) As a quick experiment, after waiting for the green spots "in front of" my eyes to clear, :) I collimated the beam with a long focal lens - man, it makes a nice, tight laser-like beam that just keeps on going, not bad as a pointer. Blow smoke into the beam when collimated with the lens and it looks just like a (VERY costly) Argon-ion laser, probably someone could adapt these things to make a "low-budget" light show. I have no doubt whatsoever that it could be seen for a mile as you say, with my lens probably several miles. Anyway, just wanted to give my 2 cents on a fine product, which has greatly exceeded my expectations. Keep up the good work! -Jon There are very few things I always carry - that's back packing, fast packing, hiking, running or just walking around. In fact I can only think of two other things, my I.D., money. If you want to be the ABSOLUTE center of attention at any night club (disco), follow these steps: My friends and I were taking our dogs for a walk at night. Being dark, I knew it would be very difficult for people to see us walking. So, we each attached our photon lights to our dogs collars. Walking down the street, it looked like Christmas with all the different color photons we had. We even had cars slowing down and bikers laughing at the sight. -Brian Chen
I just wanted to thank you again for the five PhotonLights I've purchased from you. Mine (& the wife's) came in handy yesterday after a big storm knocked out the power. Pretty standard praise, I'm sure, but I also wanted to tell about the other use I found last night for my orange Photonlight. I originally bought the red and white micro lights for use in flying my airplane. However, as I am a late night reader and my wife is an "early to bed, early to rise" person I have compromised by reading in the den instead of in bed where it is warmer and more comfortable. With the micro-light, I am able to read to my hearts content without keeping my wife awake . Thank you for making such a versatile and practical product. Please process my order for 10 more lights for my late reading friends. -Ron Hays These things are INCREDIBLE!!!! I bought one a year ago or so, and use it all the time. It once saved me from a power outage in a 5 story building, stairs were all dark. Very nice for peace of mind!! -Tom C.
Wow! Heheheheh... That was my first comment when I saw a friend's Photon II - they sell themselves. As an engineer (and at one time an electronics tech) the first thing I did, of course, when I bought my white Photon II was to dismantle it. I'm impressed: Well designed, efficiently laid out, excellent choice of materials (the filled poly is an especially good choice for the case). I could barely see my friend setting in here car in broad daylight about 7 or 8 houses away, just for fun I pointed my turquoise light at her and flashed it... to my surprise she flashed her car lights back at me!... wow!.. I wonder how bright it would be if I could focus the beam!... because this is quite a wide angle..... if it were all concentrated for special purposes... wow! -Windsong I am a volunteer firefighter in huntingdon valley PA. Recently I purchased a white microlight and a blue one. One of the problems that is faced in a volunteer fire company is that your equipment may go untouched for weeks before a call. Many times while on the scene of a call, I have seen many of my co-workers grab for their flashlights only to find out that they do not work. This is not so with the microlight. I keep one on my zipper-pull and one on my helmet for quick access. the other members were so amazed at how bright they are that they went out and bought their own. Now many of us have come to trust the photon microlight and it has not let down any one of us yet. thanks for making such a great product. -Fred Weiss, Huntingdon Valley Fire Company No.1 I recently purchased the blue Photon II light and found it fascinating! It amazes me and my friends on how much light it throws off. It is like a 'James Bond' device. The size and brightness are extremely impressive. Everyone asks where I got it! -John Stevens I spent last summer on a missionary trip to Honduras, where it gets pitch black at 6 PM. I took my yellow Photon II, and at the insistence of others took a maglite. I carried the photon in my watch pocket, the maglite stayed in my duffle. Guess which one I used? Guess who all my teammates were following when their "good" flashlights died? That photon was used for at least an hour every night for two months, and it is a seriously good light for the money. -Ben
Just bought the Blue Micro-Light II. My Photon I yellow is one of the most useful things I own. Everyone is getting one for Christmas. -Rich I am a volunteer in Search & Rescue and last night tried the mkII Blue Photon underground in a Caving Exploration/Familiarization exercise. It really blew the other guys to see how much light there was in TOTAL darkness and also to see how it stood up to the punishment underground. Most of the team are now probably going to get one for their own emergency backup kit. -Kevin
Hey Guys,
...BTW the Photon lights are great. I had one (with my keys ) go thru a snowblower. I dropped the keys when putting on my gloves. The snowblower scooped them up and threw them and the Photon 30 feet. Did not know it until later. 2 weeks later and after being in snow wet rain and encased in ice I found them . The keychain was ruined, three of four keys were broken or bent, but the Photon was perfect. Still using it today. -Rich Scanlon Thanks Bryan! Your little light is the neatest light ever! I have carried it for 3 years without a hiccup- I bought an extra battery with it, but never needed to use it. I really love these lights. They make the best presents. I am so impressed at the new lights. The white (baby blue?) is almost too bright! It really makes a great flashlight. Thank you Photon! -John Beck We are just recovering from the worst ice storm in living memory up here in Eastern Canada. Some locations in Quebec and Ontario may not see power for several weeks yet as hundreds of power poles and hundreds of kilometers of transmission line will have to be completely replaced. Fortunately our home in Nova Scotia was out for only 48 hours. Needless to say my white Photon II was my MAIN source of light the whole time and was totally indispensable. I use a clip and lanyard and it was clipped to my shirt collar for the duration. Got my mag light out once to try it but put away as being unnecessary baggage as long as I had the Photon. In fact the rest of my family forced me to take other Photons out of stock and outfit them as well. They kid me now as being something of an ...I find it useful and I believe that it's a good safety item. I put velcro on the bottom of your blue Photon II and stuck it to the top of the right prong of the pilot's control yoke. Mounted there it serves as a backup light which shines directly at the artificial horizon at an angle, so there is no glare reflected into the pilot's eyes. The DG, altimeter and turn & bank are also visible. I used another light in the past, but it had to be pressed continuously and this made for a difficult time: cramped hand or light flashing on & off. -Chuck Holliday Hi Bryan... Hope this finds you well. If you remember me, back in Sept. I bought 6 photon II lights. I gave one of the white ones to my wife. She has used it occasionally to supplement other light when examining patients (she is a
My new wife and I had just landed in Kona, Hawaii on the first night of our honeymoon. It was raining very heavily and the power was out all along the shore. When we got to our condo it was pitch black. Thanks to the white photon light on my keyring, we were able to get around and even find the rechargeable flashlight in the condo. Our neighbors asked where we got our light and thanks to my photon light, we were able to find the flashlight in their condo as well. -R&J Streett
I purchased a Micro-light to use at work. I work as an RN on a critical care unit at night. I use the light during patient assessments as well as those frequent trips into dark rooms to check equipment. Now I carry one in my change pocket even when I am away from work. -David, RN, EMT
Had a flat on a country road in the middle of the night. Reached into the glove box for my D cell flashlight only to find it dead. Changed the tire with my new Photon Micro-Light. -Joe The family went camping and my daughters wanted to go to the bathroom in the campground with no lighting. I went for the nice flashlight only to find out that my youngest had dropped it earlier in the day. I remembered the Photon light and handed the keys to my daughter. They laughed till they saw the amount of light on the ground. On the way back from the bathroom several people by campfires asked what the light was coming from. -Fred This is a perfect back up light as the filament will not break(there isn't one), it won't run down because there is no switch to leave on like a conventional flashlight. It's small and offers a completely serviceable light. -Larry I use it every morning to turn on the main lights at the panel in my factory. I used to use a big flashlight now I just take my keys out of my pocket and use my Photon Micro-Light to make my way across the dark plant. -Ron I am a Tinsmith and always keep it in my watch pocket. The small size and bright beam have been useful to me many times. One time I was in the attic at Oregon State University and had to walk across a cat walk in the dark holding heavy buckets. I turned on the light with my teeth and aimed the light to see my way. This worked so well I never did get my flashlight to finish the job. -Arnie I received two lights for gifts before Christmas last year and neglected to give one to my wife who then went to L.A.. She was on the 9th floor in the earthquake in a hotel without security lighting and had to make her way down a stairwell with matches and then total darkness when the matches were gone. She was very disturbed by this event. As soon as she came back home I put the Photon light on her key ring. It is better late than never. -Harry
There are three things that I will not do without when I go somewhere. They are my knife, keys, and Photon light. -Kathy Found splinters with the red Photon Micro-Light that were invisible to the eye under regular light. The red light made the splinters look like dark shadows through the skin on my toe. -Dallas I lost my wallet in a parking lot in Reno, Nevada and there was not enough ambient light to find it till I remembered my Photon Micro-Light and located my wallet behind the tire of my car. I recovered the $1000 that I thought was lost forever. -Bryan I finally got my clients to meet me at the house for sale and the power was out. I remembered my Photon light and showed the whole house with the tiny but powerful light. They purchased the house the next day. -Susan We had to do some wiring in the attic of an office and used our Photon lights to see by. It was a lot easier than keeping track of a heavy flashlight and our job got done quicker. -Electrical Tech. When I go to work in the morning I check my watch pocket. If my Photon Micro-Light is not there I go back and get it as it is part of my everyday gear. -Secret Service Agent We love this light for caving. What other light source can shine continuously for up to five days and only weigh five and a half grams! -New Mexico Caver My Photon light and my plane, they belong together. -Pilot Using my Photon is not a sometime thing anymore. I find I use it nearly every day that passes. Never have I had a more convenient way to illuminate what I need to see. Thanks for the wonderful invention. -Thank you from a user
